Service Break Down/Timing
Below is break down of each of our main services.
For quotes on nail art or general service queries feel free to send through a DM via instagram, Facebook message or an email.
Please note that at no point during any service will we cut or trim your cuticles, a gentle push back with a cuticle pusher is all that is needed. Your cuticle is living tissue and its purpose is to act as a barrier against bacteria entering. Once you cut the cuticle away or break the barrier you are allowing bacteria to enter which is when infections occur.
All manicure services include; a thorough cuticle tidy & prep of the natural nail to ensure you get the best wear out of your gel polish, a file, shape and length removed if desired and are finished with a warm towel, an exfoliation/polish of the skin surrounding the nail, followed by the application of our favourite hydrating and nourishing cuticle oil & moisturiser.
What is Gel Polish?
Gel Polish is a colour service that is applied to the natural nail and cured in an LED lamp, a gel polish manicure should last you approximately 2-3 weeks depending on many factors such as the health of your natural nail and following aftercare instructions. As Gel Polish is applied over the natural nail it does not provide extra length to the nail. Our Gel polish manicure service includes a rubber base, which provides some extra strength to the natural nail.
What is a Builder Gel Manicure (unstructured)?
Builder Gel is a thicker viscosity gel which is generally applied onto the natural nail under your gel polish colour and is used to give the nail extra strength. In some cases it can also help with adhesion and longevity. This product is fantastic for people who have weak nails and find gel polish alone isn’t strong enough, it's also great for anyone wanting to grow their own natural nails out as the builder will keep them nice and strong! When choosing an unstructured builder gel manicure service, this is 1-2 thin to medium layers of builder gel applied to the natural nail, under your gel polish instead of a base coat. This option has no 'structure' built (building structure provides optimal strength) and is a great medium strength option, for those who need optimal strength please see below for our structured manicure.
What is a Builder Gel Manicure with removal (unstructured)?
This service is designed for those who previously had a builder gel manicure and are wanting to maintain this. We will start by removing the old product, either by soaking or backfilling, then a gentle pushing back of the cuticles followed by a buff, shape & tidy. 1 -2 thin to medium layers of Builder Gel is then applied over the natural nail or previous builder for additional strength. This option is unstructured and provides medium strength, and is best for clients that just need a little something extra in the strength department. Gel Polish is then applied on top. This option can be backfilled or soaked off and reapplied at the next appointment, dependant on lifting present.
What is a Structured Builder Gel Manicure?
A structured builder gel manicure does not add length to the natural nail but will give you similar strength to Acrylic as we build ‘structure’ on top of the natural nail. This service is perfect for someone with very weak nails that 1-2 coats of Builder Gel isn’t quite enough for, this is a fantastic way to grow out your natural nails if you need EXTRA strength! This service is designed to be backfilled.
What is a Structured Builder Gel Manicure Backfill?
A structured builder gel mani backfill is where your structured builder gel mani has grown out over 2-4 weeks and you have ‘regrowth’, as opposed to soaking the product off we will file off the old colour, leaving the intact builder gel on the nail. We then push back the cuticles buff and tidy the nail that is exposed at the base (the regrowth) and file out any lifting that has naturally occurred. It is essential that lifting is filed away correctly to ensure there is no chance of air pockets (= bacteria). Builder gel is then reapplied in the gap where the regrowth was, ensuring the structure of the nail is correct and then all blended and smoothed back out with a file/buffer and filed back into shape, ready to re apply colour!
What is IBX?
IBX is a salon only treatment for the nails. It is fantastic for those with thin, weak or damaged nails and can help to repair delaminated (peeling) free edges. It is also amazing for healthy nails as it toughens the natural nail and helps them to grow!
Unlike paint on nail strengtheners you can buy over the counter, IBX is able to penetrate into the deeper layers of the nail plate to create a protective shield inside the nail as opposed to sitting on top of the nail.
IBX can be used under Gel Polish or it can be used alone over natural nails to help them grow.
How often should I do IBX?
IBX can be done weekly if you are having IBX Manicures with no Gel Polish applied over top. Otherwise, if you are adding IBX on to your Gel Polish Manicure you should have IBX between 4 – 6 times (in a row) for the best results. Once you are satisfied with how your nails are looking / feeling you can drop back to every second or third time to maintain the health of the natural nail.
How many layers of IBX will I need?
This will depend entirely on how many applications of IBX you have already had, as well as the condition of your natural nails. The idea is to start with all 3 layers (1x repair layer & 2x strengthen layers) and through regular nail maintenance and following aftercare instructions, work our way down to only 1 maintenance layer until we are satisfied with the condition & strength of your natural nails.
